Through donation blankets generated by Oklahoma Sooner Blanket for a Blanket purchases, With a Purpose sent 28 blankets to First United Methodist Church in Marlow, Oklahoma, a city southwest of Oklahoma City. The blankets were distributed as part of a Christmas event held by the church for families in their community. Though other pastoral duties called him away at the last second, Reverend Matt Scraper still heard a lot of good news about the event.
Reverend Scraper explained, "45 children (total) were served at the event, which was an opportunity for parents to pick up Christmas gifts for their children. These families come from the most disadvantaged in our community. As a result, Christmas is often a difficult time of year for them.
"When we passed out gifts and blankets, the feeling was one of overwhelming joy. Many of these families are not able to afford warm coats and often suffer from extreme cold in the evenings. The delight on the faces of these children was unparalleled as they cuddled up in the blankets that were passed out. I am told that the gratitude was both overwhelming and overflowing."
