Transitions Reconstructing Home Show

On November 17th Transitions, an organization helping to bring stability to the homeless of South Carolina, auctioned off clients' artwork at their Reconstructing Home Show. "We love to show the community the great things that people can do for us to help the homeless," Development Coordinator Natascha Gochett told With a Purpose. In the photo above, one lovely client proudly stands with the pieces she painted. Proceeds from the show and silent auction go to benefit Transitions which offers a variety of programs such as housing, substance abuse treatment and meals for those without permanent housing.

Natascha explained, "We have 260 residents at Transitions, and we operate the Inclement Weather Center for the homeless through the winter which shelters 204. We also serve about 100 daily through our day center." They held events for Halloween and Thanksgiving where they distributed donation blankets provided by With a Purpose to those in need. 260 of the total 600 blankets have been set aside for their upcoming Christmas event.

An older client is moved to tears by one of the volunteer art teachers at Transitions who bid on her painting.

For each South Carolina Gamecocks Blanket for a Blanket and Clemson Tigers Blanket for a Blanket, a 1-for-1 blanket is donated to a person in need in South Carolina. Over 18,555 blankets have been donated by With a Purpose to date.
